Carers Support Selsey has a long history and now operates under the governance of Selsey Community Forum. Carers Support Selsey aims to meet the needs of unpaid carers, both young and old, living in Selsey and the wider Manhood Peninsula. It provides information, advice, training and support, as well as helping to reduce isolation and loneliness by social interaction. It also promotes the interests of carers and assists in the resolution of their problems. In particular, Carers Support Selsey keeps in regular touch with carers and also arranges social events and outings, some for carers on their own and others with their loved ones. Carers Support Selsey works in partnership with Carers Support West Sussex, TuVida and Vitale Care.
Selsey Care Shop also runs a
programme of bereavement and other counselling services which can be of
value to unpaid carers.
Currently, Carers Support Selsey's runs Afternoon Teas and a Men's Breakfast Club as well as hosting meetings of the Vitale Stroke Club. It also has an Equipment Service for providing wheelchairs, raised toilet seats and other items.
A carer is anyone who gives unpaid care to a family member or friend who, due to illness, disabilty, or ageing, cannot cope without their support.
Our focus is firmly on the carer.
